Registered Nurse (RN) – 5W Medical Telemetry

Night Shift - (Hours: 7p -7a) Weekend & Holidays per department guidelines.

5 West Medical Telemetry Unit at ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital is a 28-bed unit that provides adult and geriatric inpatient and observational care on a 24-hour basis. The area is designed to accommodate patients who need medical-surgical nursing care and testing.


Scope of Services

The scope of services on 5 West Medical encompasses a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to: stroke, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, cellulitis, substance use disorder, and psychiatric diagnoses. The conditions of patients cared for in this area can be described as fair, good, and guarded. The patient population cared for in this area includes adult and geriatric patients aged 18-105.

The patients are received, admitted, and transferred from the Emergency Department, the Step-Down Unit, the Intensive Care Unit, and Direct Admissions from the community and provider offices.


Staffing

  • The charge nurse makes daily assignments and reflects consideration of the patient’s diagnosis, condition, acuity, age, developmental level, and staff qualifications.
  • 5:1 nurse to patient ratio; RNs & PCTs on the floor.
  • Nurses hired to 5W will cross-train to 4N Medical Stepdown.
  • 8–12-week orientation, depending on experience; new grads will be in the residency.
  • You develop great critical thinking & time management skills, a family atmosphere, and team atmosphere.

Education & Experience

  • Delaware RN License or Compact Nursing License.
  • BSN preferred or commitment to obtaining BSN within 3 years of hire date.
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in a Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) unit within a hospital setting is required.
  • BLS Required.

Hourly Pay Range

$41.28 - $66.05
