Day Surgery Nurse vacancy – Band 5 Professionals (Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Ysbyty Gwynedd)

About the Role

The Day Surgery Ward in Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital is a fast-paced and patient-centred unit, offering a diverse surgical caseload (from general to specialist procedures).

The Ideal Candidate

We’re seeking ** Band 5 Surgical Nurses** who:

  • Prioritise patient experience as the core of their practice
  • Love collaboration, teamwork and continuous learning
  • Are flexible, adaptable, and have a dynamic outlook
  • Take initiative, stay professional under pressure, and play an active role in audit activities

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Duties

  1. Nursing Assessment & Care
    • Assess, plan, and evaluate individual patient needs using evidence-based best practice.
    • Follow Trust/mdailand policies for Day Surgery procedures, from admission to recovery.

  1. Patient Advocacy & Education

    • Maintain legible, confidential patient records, using up-to-date care plans.
    • Accurately communicate with patients, families, relatives and the multidisciplinary team (MDT) across units (ward, recovery, operations, trauma).
  2. Compliance & Competence

    • Ensure nursing records adhere to Trust standards and confidentiality protocols.
    • Demonstrate competency in Day Surgery nursing practices, including ppence importance of handover communication.

✔ NMC Registration (underway may also apply) ✔ Clear documentation skills

Desirable

☑ Experience in nursing, with formal or shadowing exposure to day surgery beneficial ☑ Passion for updating policy/incident reporting awareness within your practice

Attitude & Willingness

✔ Eagerness to develop new skills and work across all unit areas ✔ Comfortable adapting to change and high-pressure environments
