NHS Golden Jubilee Job Title: Senior Cardiac Nurse (Band 6) — Cath Lab Leadership Role Location: By the River Clyde, Glasgow, Scotland Status: Subject to indictive banding due to job evaluation process

About the Role

An impressive opportunity exists for a confident, clinically skilled healthcare professional to step into a leadership role in the Cardiology Department, specifically focusing on cath lab operations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the safe and effective coordination of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures across multiple high-dependency environments.

You’ll join a dedicated, fast-paced team at the NHS Golden Jubilee National Hospital, a prestigious 4-star medical facility. The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel & Resort is part of the trust, offering staff exclusive benefits, including discounts for hotel/facility use.


Key Responsibilities

  • Paceset this dynamic environment by leading and managing day-to-day cath lab activities while ensuring clinical excellence and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to oversee a broad scope of cardiac interventions (diagnostic troponin labs, peripheral/radial interventions, advanced structural heart disease procedures).
  • ED/ACI shift management responsibilities to maintain seamless operations across acute cardiac science units.
  • Building mentoring relationships with junior nursing colleagues.
  • Ensuring avoidable delays to timely interventional procedures and quality-controlled follow-up.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified and ACTively practicing nurse (RGN, ADN or MID) with at least 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in cardiac acute care.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly with healthcare colleagues across disciplines (doctors, scientists, and allied health professionals).
  • Ability to work autonomously under pressure and in fast-moving environments.

Desirable Criteria

Experience in:

  • Cardiovascular nursing (preferred, but broad acute care or cardiac emergency exposure considered).
  • Cath lab procedures, peripheral artery disease interventions (PAD), coronary physiology, or non-invasive diagnostic techniques.
  • American Heart Association/ICC courses or equivalent.

Person Specification

  • Confident leader with ability to influence positive change through evidence-based decision-making.
  • An asset to colleagues with advocacy for safety standards and escalation skills to support patients/teammates.
  • Committed to continuous professional development and critical appraisal of clinical practices.
