About Ward 37
Ward 37 is a busy 20-bed mixed surgical ward. We take general surgery, colorectal, urology, orthopaedics, ENT, and max-fax patients. We are the dedicated ward for rib fractures and surgical tracheostomies.
We specialise in post-operative care and ICU step-down care. You will develop a vast knowledge of surgical conditions, complex wound care, and the management of acutely unwell patients on ward 37.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed Registered Nurses to join our team on Ward 37 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
You will be responsible for the care of a team of patients each shift with the support of the nurse in charge and the clinical support workers. You will be expected to communicate effectively to ensure correct care and treatment for each patient.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
