Staff Nurse | Surgical Wards
📍 Location: Spire Southampton (Southampton, UK) 💼 Type: Permanent Full-time 🏥 Setting: Private hospital – Surgical wards
Spire Southampton is inviting applications for a Staff Nurse to join their dynamic and supportive Ward team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary ward environment. Flexibility across day shifts, nights, weekends, and varied hours (earlies/lates) is expected.
About the Role

As a Staff Nurse within the Surgical wards, you will:
- Assess and support individuals across a diverse, evolving caseload, tailoring care to their health and wellbeing needs.
- Contribute to the delivery of comprehensive, sensitive, and evidence-based care.
- Actively participate in team-based learning and best-practice development.
- Uphold high standards in health, safety, security, and service enhancement.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff.
Key Responsibilities

Patient assessment & care delivery:
- Evaluate and monitor patients’ health and wellbeing across complex clinical scenarios.
- Provide tailored, compassionate nursing interventions.

Clinical & professional expertise:
- Chair sensitive conversations or complex/technical health information with discretion.
- Continuously upskill—reflect on clinical practice and share learning.
- Champion health & safety standards (e.g., infection control, Falls Prevention).

Who Are We Looking For?
Essential Criteria
- **A membership of an UK nursing or midwifery registered body (e.g., NMC).
- Hands-on experience working in a team environment with minimal direct supervision.
- Proven experience in an acute hospital setting, ideally on a surgical ward.
- Demonstrable competence in:
- Assessment & clinical holistic care (physical & psychosocial).
- High acuity environments.
Nice-to-have but valued
- Experience in critical care transition, recovery monitoring, or complex procedures (e.g., trauma, oncology post-surgical).
