About the Role
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a premiere clinical and academic health system, delivering expert pediatric care for infants, children, and teens with complex medical challenges. Ranked in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report, we specialize in innovative treatments and use half of our 259-bed teaching hospital for intensive care, making us the regional pediatric referral center for Florida’s West Coast.
This 5-year contract position offers:
- 36 hours per week, Full-Time role
- Relocation assistance available
- Competitive pay: Minimum $30.64/hour to Maximum $49.02/hour (commensurate with experience)
- $10,000.00 Sign-On Bonus

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) provides evidence-based respiratory care to neonates through adolescents, ensuring adherence to hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include complex procedures, critical patient assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clear documentation to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
Patient Care & Clinical Excellence
- Assess patients’ respiratory status, evaluate progress toward care goals, and recommend individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (nurses, physicians, directors of RT services) to deliver high-quality respiratory care while maintaining continuity and alignment with patient goals
- Safely perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (bronchoscopy, ventilation management, allergen immunotherapy) per hospital policies and guidelines
- Interpret and apply critical thinking to stabilize and improve patient outcomes in dynamic, high-stress settings
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record for compliance and care continuity

Education & Communication
- Educate patients, families, and care team members on respiratory therapies, monitoring systems, and equipment with uptake-focused communication
- Adapt teaching methodologies to diverse learning styles, ensuring understanding and shared decision-making
Team & Systems Integration
- Work collaboratively in fast-paced environments, particularly during code situations, emergency transports, and complex procedures
- Act as a frequent, high-visibility resource while maintaining peer-to-peer collaboration and responsibility for safety
Qualifications & Requirements
✅ Education & Licensure
- Completed Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) respiratory therapy program
- Graduated from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
- Current Florida Respiratory Therapist License
- Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC):
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) ✱
- OR CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) ✱
- OR equivalent credential accepted by NBRC
- OR new graduates may qualify (based on licensure eligibility)
✅ Clinical Experience
- Preferred: 1+ years as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT)
- No prior experience required for new graduates
✅ Certifications & Compliance
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- Must obtain or hold AHA PALS certification (within 120-day orientation period)
- NRP certification required if working in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
✅ Special Considerations
- Readiness to accept a 5-year contract (with the possibility of re-employment arrangement)
- Willingness to work in a pediatric setting with emphasis on developmentally appropriate care
