Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Position Overview: Reporting to the Manager, Critical Care and Respiratory Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating patient care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centred care environment. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for patient ventilation, oximetry, pulmonary function testing, equipment sanitation/maintenance, and patient education/counselling. Other duties as assigned. The successful candidate may be scheduled at any SHN hospitals based on departmental needs. Requirements: Current valid C.R.T.O. registration Current valid BCLS certification Strong clinical skills and familiarity with weaning protocols and current ventilation modalities Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement Ability to perform the essential duties of the position Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public. Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
