We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our small, friendly small animal practice in New Malden on a 12-month maternity cover contract starting in August 2026.
About Us
You’ll be joining a supportive and stable team consisting of 6 vets, 3 RVNs, 2 SVNs, 4 VCAs, a dedicated reception team, a practice administrator, and our practice manager. Many members of our team have been with us for 6–10 years, creating a welcoming and collaborative working environment.
Our practice owner, who qualified 25 years ago, has significantly developed the practice since taking over in 2012, and as a result we are continually growing and welcoming new faces to our team.
Following our recent expansion, the practice now features:
- 6 consultation rooms
- 2 operating theatres
- A dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray
- A dedicated imaging room with digital X-ray, ultrasound and a rigid endoscope
- A separate pharmacy
Alongside treating cats, dogs and rabbits, we also care for a wide range of exotic species. Our exotics vet and exotics nurse are both qualified in Exotic Animal Medicine, further enhancing the level of care we can provide in practice. To support this, we have separate wards for dogs, cats and exotics, dedicated waiting areas, and a recently added isolation ward.
About You
This is an incredibly exciting time for our practice, and we are looking for someone enthusiastic, proactive and positive to help support the team as we move into this next chapter.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
