Deliver Gold-Standard Care in a Dynamic, Specialist-Led Environment
Are you a passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for a role that genuinely offers variety, development, and balance? Scarsdale Veterinary Group is delighted to offer a unique opportunity at Scarsdale Vets in Derby, combining hands-on hospital nursing with nurse-led consulting within a supportive first-opinion team.
This role is ideal for an RVN who enjoys clinical excellence alongside client interaction, giving you the opportunity to develop advanced technical skills in a specialist-led hospital while building confidence and autonomy in consulting.
In this varied and rewarding position, you will split your time between hospital nursing and first-opinion consulting.
Hospital and procedure nursing
You will support high-quality patient care across anaesthesia, inpatient care, diagnostics, imaging and procedures. This includes performing Schedule 3 procedures under veterinary direction and working with advanced diagnostic equipment such as digital X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring and in-house laboratory diagnostics. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the hospital, including stock control, equipment maintenance and efficient clinical workflows.
First opinion nursing and consulting
You will deliver nurse-led consultations within our first-opinion nursing team, building strong and lasting relationships with clients. Clinics include wellness and preventative healthcare, chronic illness management, weight management, senior pet clinics, dental health and post-operative care. This element of the role allows you to take real ownership of patient and client care while developing confidence in independent consulting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
