Registered Veterinary Nurse

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced RVN to join our friendly team here at St Helens Vet for Pets in a full-time role working 40 hours per week. This would include Saturdays on a 1 in 3 rota basis 9am to 5pm, (Closed Sundays) and no OOH requirements.

We are an experienced and progressive team who work together to provide the highest standard of veterinary care within a safe and supportive environment. Last year we were accredited as a ‘Dog Friendly’ practice and pride ourselves in making each pet’s experience as positive as possible when they visit.

Our focus is on the welfare of the patients under our care and as a close-knit team (who enjoy each other’s company) we have regular opportunities to share information, CPD and carry out regular training e.g. CPR refreshers.

Our nursing team is vital to ensure the smooth running of the practice. We offer a varied rota which includes theatre, consultations, radiography, lab work, triage appointments and inpatient care. Nurse consultations are a minimum of 15 minutes long, with admin and ‘catch-up’ time built into the diary also. We encourage further development and offer an annual CPD budget of £500.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
