Job Title: Registered Veterinary Nurse - Maternity cover

Salary: From £27,000 per annum DOE

Location: Wicstun Vets, Market Weighton

Job Type: 12 months Maternity cover contract

Hours: 40 hours - 5 days per week

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Wicstun Vets on a 12 months fixed- term basis to cover Maternity leave.

As an RVN with us, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional standards of patient and client care while working closely with our Clinical Nursing Manager and wider practice team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our clinical areas and kennels.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where you will:

  • Deliver outstanding patient care at all times
  • Undertake all general nursing duties, including anaesthesia, inpatient care, surgical support, and medication administration
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain high-quality clinical records, including anaesthetic sheets and hospitalisation forms
  • Monitor and care for inpatients (pre-op, post-op, and recovery)
  • Support and mentor student nurses and animal care/kennel assistants
  • Assist with stock control and ensure effective stock rotation
  • Support reception duties where required, including client updates
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, and equipment care
  • Participate in an out-of-hours rota on a shared basis
  • Engage in CPD and in-house training, sharing knowledge with the team

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Is RCVS registered
  • Has solid experience in small animal general practice
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and client care skills
  • Is organised, adaptable, and calm under pressure
  • Understands the importance of teamwork and clear communication
  • Has strong attention to detail and high clinical standards
  • Is committed to continuous professional development
  • Has a positive, proactive approach and enjoys supporting others
