Graduate Apprentice RA Specialist – Regulatory Affairs
Department: Regulatory Affairs
Location: Delta Park, Fareham (moving to Vision Centre, Southampton in September 2026
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 to 16:30
Job Summary – What to Expect
As a Graduate Apprentice RA Specialist, you’ll support writing and compiling regulatory technical documentation in CooperVision’s Regulatory Affairs team, gaining industry experience and working towards an MSc in Regulatory Affairs through TOPRA’s apprenticeship programme.
On rotation within the team, you’ll spend:
- 80% of your time applying knowledge in on-the-job experience within CooperVision
- 20% of your time in formal training with TOPRA
Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Document Support:
- Prepare, compile, and submit regulatory technical documents for the registration of current and new products across assigned markets.
- Monitor pending regulatory submissions to ensure timely approvals and escalate any potential delays to management.

Regulatory Compliance & Research:
- Conduct independent research or liaise with in-country representatives and external parties to clarify regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, consultants, contract manufacturers, and distributors to ensure submissions are accurate and complete to avoid delays.

Decision Support & Impact Assessments:
- Provide input to Regulatory Affairs Impact Documents (RAIDs) from a local market perspective.
- Advise on quality issues, proposing improvements to minimise risks, enhance safety, reliability, and productivity.

Dynamic Contributions to TOPRA Programme:
- Dedicate 30 months (20% work time) to completing TOPRA’s apprenticeship, leading to an MSc in Regulatory Affairs.

About the Apprenticeship
The programme is a partnership with TOPRA, designed for professionals in healthcare regulatory affairs.

About You
We are seeking an individual with:
- Technical Acumen: Ability to read, understand, and interpret scientific/regulatory documentation.
- Attention to Detail: Rigorous proofreading and accuracy in submissions.
- Strong Organisation & Planning Skills: Managing time and deadlines efficiently.
- Effective Communication: Clear written & verbal expression in professional settings (for training, team collaboration, and regulatory interactions).
- Technology Proficiency:
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience (or strong interest) in relational database systems, e.g., cooperative tools like Agile Project Management
- Professional Demeanor: Ability to engage confidently in:
- Individual work and collaborative teams
- Multicultural/multinational environments
- Flexible Work Style: Prioritising tasks, adapting to multiple priorities, and demonstrating self-management.
- Logistical Readiness: Current full UK driving license for UK-seated site flexibility.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g. pharmacology, chemistry, biomedical sciences).
Essential入門 Certifications
Due to TOPRA apprenticeship eligibility requirements, candidates must hold one of the following:
- GCSE Mathematics or English – Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Higher Level Standard Grades (Scotland) – Credit Level 2+ or Grade C+
- Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent
NOTE: Evidence must be provided prior to starting the programme.
