Regulatory and Litigation Counsel, Content

Regulatory and Litigation Counsel – EMEA

Note: By applying to this role, you will be able to share a preferred working location from the following: London, UK; Dublin, Ireland; Brussels, Belgium.

Minimum Qualifications

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • Admitted to the bar in good standing or authorized to practice law (e.g., registered in-house status) in the state/jurisdiction where the position is located
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm
  • Experience in cross-border litigation or regulatory defence in EMEA
  • Experience with legal, regulatory, and litigation matters, including:
    • Addressing, minimising, and avoiding regulatory risk
    • Affirmative litigation, including judicial review, class actions, or litigating before the European Court of Justice
  • Proven ability to engage with regulators (e.g., CNAM, Ofcom, European Commission) in content/media/consumer protection (preferred but not compulsory)

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)

  • Experience working with public company boards and their counsel, including special committees (e.g., audit committees)
  • Experience responding to regulatory requests for information
  • Experience advising on matters involving government and regulatory audits, investigations, and submissions

About the Role

Regulatory Affairs at Google ensures the company can innovate responsibly while complying with global laws. This role will partner across Global Affairs, Product Areas, and internal teams to facilitate constructive engagement with regulators while reducing risk.

As a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel, you’ll:

  • Lead strategy for responding to governments and regulators
  • Conduct investigations, fact-gathering, and due diligence
  • Represent the company in external engagements
