Legal Counsel (Regulation, Policy & Product) – Waymo (EMEA Focus)

About the Role

Waymo is a transformative autonomous driving technology company with a bold mission: to become the "world’s most trusted driver". Since 2009, Waymo has pioneered the Waymo Driver™—a fully autonomous transport solution trusted in millions of trips and billions of miles—expanding beyond ride-hail into global vehicle applications.

You’ll join Waymo’s Legal team, specialising in regulation, policy, and product, to navigate groundbreaking legal challenges at the intersection of autonomous driving technology, policy, and commercialisation. Working across public policy, safety, security, and corporate defence, you’ll shape regulations, protect intellectual property, advise on commercial transactions, and prepare for high-impact cases. Collaborations span engineering, product, strategy, and operations, ensuring we build trust, scale voire, and remain ahead of evolving global laws.

Reporting Line: Managing Counsel, Regulatory, Policy & Product

Key Responsibilities

  • Revolutionising regulatory compliance
    • Craft strategies and frameworks for aligning Waymo’s emerging technology with legacy and new legal frameworks that didn’t anticipate autonomous driving.
    • Interpret and advise on local, state, federal, and international regulations—prioritising expertise in UK/EU jurisdictions.
    • Address novel legal questions independently and guide teams through uncharted compliance territory.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
