Regulatory Manager (UK & Ireland Crop Protection) – Cambridge, UK

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head of CP Regulatory UK & Ireland, this is a high-autonomy position with visibility and influence, shaping the future of Syngenta’s regulatory landscape in the UK and Ireland. As the owner of our crop protection product portfolio, you’ll oversee registration strategies, lead submissions directly to authorities, and foster cross-functional collaboration—balancing technical nuance with commercial opportunities.

Working between UK CRD/HSE and Irish DAFM/PCS, you’ll champion registration renewals, align with policy changes, and advocate at a national level.


Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Plan and execute regulatory strategy for assigned product portfolio, translating commercial targets into actionable regulatory timelines
  • Define and defend product approvals/registrations with UK CRD, HSE, DAFM, and PCS, ensuring smooth compliance
  • Proactively monitor UK and Irish regulatory outcomes, including policy adaptations and guidance updates, to anticipate implications

Authority Engagement & Advocacy

  • Lead authority interactions, including dossiers, submission packages, and negotiations with regulators, over product renewals, extensions, and mutual recognitions
  • Advocate for active substances at national and European levels; represent Syngenta in technical and policy dialogues, engaging industry associations
  • Represent the business at cross-sectoral or government forum events

Team & Operational Leadership

  • Mentor the Regulatory Specialist, sharing best practices in technical submissions and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain accuracy in Syngenta’s genomic/regulatory databases, aligning data with local requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Technical & Regulatory Expertise

  • Ascertained track record in managing end-to-end regulatory submissions (1107/2009-compliant), from drafting strategy to authority approval
  • Dedicated experience in navigating UK & Irish regulatory environments (preferred): strong familiarity with UK GB PPP Regulations and EU 1107/2009 frameworks
  • Legal or scientific specialization, with recognised knowledge in toxicology, ecotoxicology, environmental fate, or residue analysis

  • Exceptional scientific writing ability, synthesizing research into coherent authority submissions
  • Experience thriving under tight deadlines, while transitioning between projects and unexpected timeline shifts
  • Stakeholder negotiation and public facingраль: familiar with mediating between internal teams, governments, and external partnerships

Language & Education

  • Fluent English (spoken, written), with mastery of legislative and technical terminology
  • Degree in Science, Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent
