Regulatory Specialist – Crop Protection (UK & Republic of Ireland)

Job Description
Syngenta is seeking a Regulatory Specialist to manage the full regulatory lifecycle for the Crop Protection (CP) portfolio in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Reporting to: Head of CP Regulatory UK & Ireland Role: Strategic liaison for submissions, compliance, and regulatory data, collaborating with authorities, regional teams, and commercial colleagues.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Submissions & Registrations
- Prepare and submit regulatory packages to:
- UK: CRD/HSE
- Republic of Ireland: DAFM/PCS (Covering new products, label extensions, mutual recognitions, EAMUs, and renewals applications)
- Follow up on PPP processes (new registrations, re-approvals, minor changes)
- Support supply chain regulatory needs, including:
- Non-significant formulation change submissions
- New active ingredient (AI) source registrations
- Formulation site changes and packaging approvals

2. Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate label artwork peer reviews and label text production
- Manage updates to:
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- PCN-UFI notifications
- Digital label maintenance
- Handle submissions for co-formulant and packaging changes
3. Stakeholder & Data Management
- Build/maintain professional relationships with UK and Irish regulatory authorities
- Communicate with regional teams during product evaluations
- Ensure document accuracy in Veeva Vault and support AgriGuide updates for:
- Great Britain (GB)
- Northern Ireland (NI)
- Ireland
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with technical, marketing, and sales functions to support Portfolio Teams
- Contribute to competitor portfolio analysis
- Address regulatory queries from commercial teams
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Background in registration procedures within crop protection or related industry
- Proven ability to build/maintain relationships with regulatory authorities/bodies
- Familiarity with country-specific EU/UK/Ireland regulatory legislation and processes
- Experience using and maintaining regulatory databases

Preferred
- Hands-on experience in product labelling, SDS management, and regulatory compliance processes
Education & Required Skills
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in:
- Science, Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline
- High attention to detail for accurate document preparation
- Ability to manage multiple submissions/deadlines effectively
- Strong communication skills with authority officials, internal, and commercial teams
- Proficiency in English and familiarity with regulatory terminology
- Strong MS Office skills + willingness to learn new regulatory IT systems
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a small team
Location & Work Environment
Syngenta’s Cambridge site hosts commercial operations for UK & Ireland Crop Protection, Seeds, Flowers, and Lawn & Garden businesses. Functions include:
