Apprenticeship - Development Post: Rehabilitation Support Worker
About the Role
Are you committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred care? Join our dynamic Neighbourhood Rehabilitation Team as a Rehabilitation Support Worker (RSW) and make a real difference in your community.
This is a development post offering support to achieve a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care via an apprenticeship route, including dedicated college time for formal study.
Important Note: Failure to successfully complete the qualification and required competencies within the agreed timeframe may impact continued employment, as it is a requirement for progression to a Band 3 position.
Position Summary
Under the guidance of registered healthcare professionals, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care on the Intermediate Care pathway. Your role will focus on:
- Promoting independence in personal activities
- Supporting mobility and physical exercise programmes
- Encouraging participation in therapy plans
Apart from the lack of visa sponsorship for this role, it aligns closely with the below job requirements:
- Work both independently and collaboratively with individuals in their homes and care homes
- Close liaison with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) requiring excellent communication and time management skills
- Assist in initial assessments and development/implementation of care plans
- Participate in training, clinical supervision, and evidenced-based practice reflection
JobDuties & Responsibilities
Clinical & Care Activities
- Implement delegated tasks from therapy care plans (to address basic and psychological needs of service users)
- Provide compassionate, planned care that maximises recovery and rehabilitation potential
- Support personal care activities including bathing, toileting, dressing, and meal assistance
- Assist clinicians in helping clients perform daily tasks and maintain appearances
Administrative & Safety Roles
- Perform routine administration or housekeeping duties
- Develop and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with service users
- Ensure professional and respectful interactions with users, relatives, visitors, and colleagues
- Follow established policies, procedures, protocols, and clinical care plans
- Uphold moving and handling best practices with hoists, wheelchairs, etc.

Response & Resilience
- Respond to verbal/physical aggression and challenging behaviours (including reporting risks to clinicians)
- Mitigate emergency situations confidently
- Identify and manage risks, ensuring ongoing safety awareness for individuals and themselves
Always be mindful that intermittent shift patterns may include weekends and bank holidays.
Required By-Laws and Considerations
All employees are strongly encouraged to hold up-to-date flu vaccinations for protection of staff and patients.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must be aged 18 or over with minimum 3 years of residency in the UK (excluding student visas) to meet the apprenticeship funding requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, & BSAS Requirements
Person Specification -- Must Haves
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:
- Acknowledge commitment to embrace Trust mandatory training including Care Certificate and subsequent refresher requirements
- Must be willing to progress with a Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification to move towards a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) position
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold GCSE grades 1–9 or an equivalent (verified through BKSB assessments)
- Care Certificate achieved within 12 weeks (on-job training optional start)
Desirable:
- Prior caring experience (paid or voluntary)
- Past dealing with services and/or the general public.
SKILLS:
- Deep understanding of customer service requirements
- Basic IT and keyboard skills
- Strong grasp of confidentiality importance
- Resilience and calm under high pressures
