Rehabilitation Worker
Rehabilitation Worker – Visual Impairment Team
Permanent Position Grade C – £35,412 – £44,075 per annum Working 36.5 hours per week
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting people with sight loss to live more independently, confidently and safely?
This wonderful opportunity allows you to make a real difference by helping individuals regain choice, control and independence in their everyday lives.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct functional ability assessments and tailor rehabilitation programs focusing on:
- Travel training
- Kitchen and cooking skills
- Communication techniques
- Daily living and occupational tasks
- Collaborate with individuals, their families/carers, and healthcare professionals to ensure personalised, safe and responsive support.
- Coordinate with colleagues to screen referrals for Visual Rehabilitation/Hearing Impairment services, where you’ll:
- Contact referrers and citizens for key information
- Maintain accurate records
- Prioritise referrals appropriately
- Support service delivery by:
- Promoting the team’s work
- Contributing to case reviews/conferences
- Ensuring inclusive support delivery
- Maintaining high-quality records

About You
Candidates must meet all essential criteria:
- A DipHE in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) or DipHE in Rehabilitation Studies.
- Proven experience working with visually impaired individuals in a rehabilitation setting.
- Competency in assessments, reviews, and rehabilitation planning.
- Exemplary communication skills with adaptability to diverse needs.
- Ability to assess risk and manage varied workloads effectively.
- Registration with the Rehabilitation Workers Providing Nursing/Dementia (RWPN)—evidence provided in registration acknowledgement.
Ideal candidates will also demonstrate:
- Forward-thinking mindset and adaptability.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Understanding of barriers faced by people with sight loss.
- Alignment with anti-oppressive and inclusive practices.
