Structural Technician/ Reinforcement Engineer – RC Modelling Team

Join Explore Manufacturing's Reinforced Concrete (RC) Modelling Team – the digital design hub at the heart of Laing O'Rourke's world-class precast expertise. You'll help deliver next-generation Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) solutions across some of the UK's most ambitious and sustainable projects.

About The Role

As an Reinforcement Engineer/Structural Technician, you'll support the creation of detailed 2D and 3D manufacturing information for precast concrete components, using leading platforms such as Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect, and Revit.

  • Working alongside our structural, DfMA, and production engineering teams, you'll ensure every model and drawing meets the highest standards – compliant with Eurocodes, British Standards, and Laing O'Rourke's manufacturing guidance.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills at the intersection of digital engineering, design, and advanced manufacturing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing and releasing accurate 3D models, 2D drawings, and associated metadata for precast elements.
  • Collaborating with structural and design teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with lifting, handling, and transport requirements.
  • Supporting bid and tender stage design through modelling and viability studies.
  • Contributing to product development, value engineering, and low-carbon design innovation.
  • Assisting in managing design data across Common Data Environments (CDEs).
  • Engaging with production teams to resolve design queries and improve detailing workflows.
  • Championing digital quality, lean design processes, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

  • A keen interest in digital design, reinforced concrete, and DfMA.
  • Experience or familiarity with Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/BIM software.
  • Understanding of precast concrete manufacturing – or enthusiasm to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, collaborative mindset.
  • A desire to develop innovative, low-carbon, and efficient design solutions.
  • A degree or HNC/HND in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
