Reinstatement Operative

Reinstatement Operative

Location: London & surrounding areas Salary: Competitive Contract Type: Full time, permanent Typical Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday

Build the groundwork that keeps infrastructure moving.

At Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions, we deliver safe, sustainable geotechnical and groundwork services that support essential infrastructure projects across the UK.

We’re looking for a practical, reliable Ground Worker with Street Works experience to support excavation, reinstatement, and utility-related works (MER) across active sites in London and surrounding areas.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you’ll work alongside experienced site teams, develop specialist skills, and play a key part in delivering high-quality reinstatement and excavation works.

What you’ll do;

You’ll support site teams in delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality Street Works and groundwork operations, including:

  • Supporting mobilisation of tools, plant, equipment, and materials to and from site
  • Preparing worksites for Street Works activities, including setting up barriers, signage, and safe pedestrian/diversion routes
  • Assisting with excavation works, including trial holes, service exposure, and manual digging
  • Carrying out reinstatement works, including backfilling, compaction, layering, and surface finishes to specification
  • Supporting compliance with New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) requirements
  • Operating basic tools and small equipment such as compactors, breakers, shovels, and wheelbarrows
  • Maintaining safe, clean, and well-organised working areas at all times
  • Following RAMS, permits, and strict HSE procedures on every site
  • Participating in toolbox talks, daily briefings, and safety checks
  • Working closely with the site team to keep works on programme

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
