Reinsurance & Direct Pricing Actuary / Senior Actuarial Analyst
Valayo is working with an international insurer on two newly created Pricing opportunities within a growing London Market team.
One of the biggest attractions of these roles is the breadth of exposure. Rather than specialising in either direct insurance or reinsurance, you'll work across both throughout the year, gaining experience that's difficult to find elsewhere in the London Market.
Alongside this, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of Specialty classes London Market business, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their pricing experience and become a genuinely well-rounded pricing actuary.
The work itself combines case pricing, pricing model development, portfolio analytics, and business planning, with regular interaction with experienced underwriters. They're looking for someone who enjoys understanding the commercial side of pricing and helping to influence underwriting decisions, rather than simply producing models behind the scenes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll also join the business at an exciting time. The team is growing, with multiple hires planned as the portfolio continues to expand. At the same time, they're investing heavily in their pricing capability, with projects spanning pricing technology, new modelling approaches, data improvements, and the development of new pricing tools. This is a role where you'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, help shape how the team works, and play an active part in building the next generation of pricing capability.
One of the biggest advantages is the level of ownership and exposure. As part of a relatively small, collaborative pricing team, you'll be involved throughout the pricing lifecycle, work closely with a wide range of underwriters, and gain exposure across multiple portfolios rather than being confined to a single area of the business.
