Relationship Development Director
Business Development Manager – Client Partnership & Lending Specialist
Purpose of the Role
To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate and individual clients, acting as the gateway between the bank’s offerings and clients' requirements. This role ensures mutual value and sustainable success through tailored financial solutions.
Key Accountabilities
1. Client Relationship & Needs Assessment
- Manage client relationships to understand their financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance
- Analyse client data, including investment portfolios and cash flows, to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps in service
- Develop customised financial and lending solutions that align with clients’ objectives
- Monitor client satisfaction, revenue growth, and performance metrics to refine engagement strategies
2. Strategic Advisory & Consultation
- Research industry trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic advisory work
- Design bespoke solutions combining products (e.g., lending, wealth management, risk mitigation) to optimise client value
- Provide investment, risk management, and wealth strategy advice while keeping clients updated on market trends
- Negotiate terms that foster long-term alignment between client needs and bank offerings
3. Risk Management & Compliance
- Assess and mitigate financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client engagements
- Ensure documentation of all interactions, transactions, and agreements for auditability and transparency
- Contribute insights to product development and strategic initiatives based on client feedback

- Source and secure lending opportunities for high-potential clients
- Offer consultative advisory services to evaluate and propose suitable funding structures
- Act as a Barclays spokesperson at networking/events, expanding reach and relationships
- Manage workload functionally and flexibly, prioritising appointments and projects

- Proven lending experience with a strong understanding of credit analysis
- Exceptional stakeholder & client relationship skills
- Effective networking, presentation, and negotiation capabilities
