Relationship Development Director Mid Corporate

Relationship Development Director – Mid Corporate, Corporate Banking

About the Role

As a Relationship Development Director in the Mid Corporate business area of Corporate Banking, your mission is to deeply understand our clients’ objectives, challenges, and growth opportunities. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll tailor bespoke financial solutions—spanning manufacturing, technology, retail, law, and beyond—to drive long-term business success.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Market Engagement

  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities, trends, and evolving customer needs
  • Proactively seize business growth potentials by analysing Sussex’ commercial ecosystem

Client Acquisition & Relationship Growth

  • Develop strategies to acquire new clients, including through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and participation in industry events
  • Craft and execute tailored business proposals, presentations, and negotiation tactics for contracts

Strategic & Relationship Management

  • Lead relationship development by aligning clients’ financial priorities, risk appetite, and operational needs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across sales, lending, credit, and product teams—ensuring seamless delivery of banking offerings
  • Leveraging data-driven insights to refine approaches and enhance client satisfaction

Solution Innovation & Consultation

  • Research industry trends, regulations, and competitive positioning to provide actionable insights
  • Design and pitch customised solutions, blending tailored products/services from our portfolio

Critical Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Relationship Director with a track record in mid-corporate banking
  • Sharpened commercial acumen: honing client focus, decision-making, and financial strategy
  • Expertise in risk controls, operational compliance, and business workflows
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills—exemplifying communication, influence, and collaborative leadership
  • Track record of business development with a portfolio of high-value client acquisitions

Desirable (Not Mandatory) Strengths

  • A lending accreditations (e.g., Certified Financial Planner/Lender designations)
  • Technical proficiency in lending systems (e.g., loan structure, CRM platforms, financial compliance)
  • Industry-specific expertise (e.g., manufacturing, tech, hospitality, professional services)
  • Familiarity with client portfolio management methodologies

Role Location
