Barclays Business Development Manager – Sheffield
About the Role
As a Business Development Manager at Barclays, your role is to source lending opportunities that support clients’ strategic commercial growth. You’ll leverage your experience in relationship management with senior stakeholders and lending expertise to provide a consultative service, helping clients evaluate their lending options and finance their ambitions.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Representing Barclays at various industry events, expanding networks and engaging with diverse audiences
- Demonstrating adaptability to manage a flexible workload and prioritise client needs
Key Responsibilities
Core Accountabilities
- Drive profitable partnerships with corporate and individual clients, bridging the gap between Barclays’ offerings and client needs to deliver mutual benefit and long-term success
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, assessing their financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance
- Analyse data sources (investment portfolios, cash flow) to identify trends, insights, and service improvements
- Document all interactions, agreements, and transactions to ensure transparency and compliance
Strategic Consultation & Solutions
- Research industry trends, regulatory landscapes, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic recommendations
- Design and propose customised lending solutions tailored to client objectives and risk profiles
- Present valuing propositions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms that align client and bank benefits

Risk & Advisory Support
- Guide clients in financial decision-making, risk management, and wealth strategies
- Assess financial, legal, and operational risks, implementing measures to mitigate potential losses
- Monitor client satisfaction, revenue performance, and growth metrics for ongoing relationship refinement
Requirements & Experience
To succeed in this Business Development Manager role, you should have:

- Proven expertise in lending, including understanding of product portfolios and client finance solutions
- Strong experience liaising with stakeholders, clients, and external partners
- Networking and presentation skills to establish credibility and influence
- Business development mindset with clear analytical and consultative approaches
