About the Role
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is seeking two ambitious Sales Relationship Managers to drive commercial growth and support our strategic goal of promoting professional leadership. One role will focus on expanding our Employer and Provider Partnerships (EPP), while the other will dedicate itself to accelerating growth within the Further Education (FE) sector. Both positions suit senior business development professionals experienced in selling commercially funded training solutions, qualifications, or accreditation.
These are fast-paced, target-driven roles focused 90% on driving new business and 10% on nurturing existing strategic partners, with both offering an attractive quarterly bonus. Whether you are navigating complex FE college frameworks or engaging with corporate C-suite executives, you should be a high-calibre closer, comfortable managing a £2 million pipeline and delivering impactful, consultative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Expand CMI's presence and find new commercial training sales opportunities with private providers, further education institutions and employers.
- Manage an annual £2 million pipeline by acquiring new clients and nurturing existing partnerships.
- Engage C-suite executives to align CMI's leadership vision with customer needs and pain points.
- Collaborate internally to create engagement models and improve the customer journey to drive high NPS.
- Act as a professional CMI ambassador through high-level networking and industry presentations.
- Utilise Salesforce CRM to manage sales; training is available if required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
