Relationship Manager

Relationship Manager – Investment Team

North Wales, UK | Salary: up to £37k + up to 20% bonus

Varga is collaborating with a leading financial services business to recruit an Assistant Relationship Manager focused on originating and assessing investment opportunities, with a strong emphasis on unsecured lending.


Key Responsibilities

  • Originate & Assess Investments

    • Analyse cash flow and evaluate predominantly unsecured lending opportunities.
  • Structured Target Achievement

    • Meet agreed investment volumes and return targets.
  • Due Diligence & Risk Management

    • Conduct financial, commercial and management due diligence, assessing key risks.
  • Negotiation & Documentation

    • Structure and negotiate investment terms, including legal agreements.
    • Prepare high-quality credit papers to support approvals, ensuring documentation moves through to closure.

  • Compliance & Sector Expertise

    • Uphold best practice compliance and sector-specific technical knowledge.

  • Deal Flow & Networking

    • Build and manage relationships with introducers and intermediaries within the Welsh SME market.

  • Representation & Industry Participation

    • Represent the organisation at external events and within industry networks.

  • Operational Compliance

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in SME lending or investment.
  • Hands-on expertise in preparing credit papers.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and investment processes.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Sound judgement, adaptable decision-making, and leadership under pressure.
  • High detail orientation, financial analysis abilities, and strong organisational skills.
  • Established network of Welsh SME introducers.
