This is an exciting opportunity to join our SME Business Banking team as a Relationship Manager. You’ll engage with both existing and prospective customers, acting as a key advocate to inspire growth and deliver world-class customer service.
The role is primarily hybrid, conducted via Zoom with virtual meetings, along with opportunities for in-person engagements at selected events. Based in either Reading or St Albans, employees must attend the office a minimum of three days per week.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a portfolio of clients, focusing on sustainable growth through expanding offerings and nurturing deeper relationships using HSBC’s global network
- Market HSBC’s profile in the local business and wider community, acting as a brand ambassador
- Prioritise customer needs while upholding excellence in service delivery
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while strengthening existing client relationships
- Build connections with local professionals and business owners to drive referrals and growth
- Adhere to strict compliance standards, including credit, operational, financial crime, and regulatory risk management
- Collaborate with product specialists to assess customer needs—domestic and international—offering tailored financial solutions

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in Business/Corporate Banking or Financial Services
- relationship management or client advising, with a passion for exceptional customer service
- Business development expertise, including account expansion and winning new clients
- Strong understanding of commercial lending and approval processes
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence, persuade, and articulate ideas clearly
- A comprehensive knowledge of credit and risk management principles
