Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineer – Boeing Defence UK (BDUK)

The BDUK engineering function operates a matrix organisation, with the Product Support Engineering Department covering specialisations like:
- Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) Analysis
- Reliability & Maintainability
- Logistic Support Analysis
- Engineering Data Exploitation
- Obsolescence Management
- Technical Publications
- Integrated Logistic Support Engineering
The Role: R&M Engineer
Key Responsibilities
You will be accountable for:
- Analysing reliability & maintainability (R&M) predictions, fleet data to drive digital data enhancement.
- Reviewing & supporting key engineering activities:
- Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Failure analysis & Corrective Actions (FRACAS)
- Coordinating R&M activities, establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting progress.
- Performing statistical analysis to identify reliability thresholds & trending.
- Collaborating with modelling & supply chain teams to forecast aircraft spares.
- Presenting R&M findings in UK defence customer forums, ensuring consistency across projects.

Qualifications & Experience
Basic Requirements
✅ Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (essential) ✅ Bachelor’s degree in related fields, including (but not limited to):
- Engineering, Engineering Technology (or Manufacturing Tech)
- Computer Science, Data Science
- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry ✅ High-level skill in reliability/availability modelling using industry toolsets & methodologies. ✅ Familiarity with:
- R&M’s relationship with Design, Dependability, Safety & Logistics
- Microsoft Office Suite (especially MS Word)
- Adobe Acrobat XI Pro
Preferred Attributes
🔹 Clear communicator with a "can-do" attitude 🔹 Driven & passionate about improving quality & efficiency 🔹 Strong reporting & presentation skills 🔹 Knowledge of risk & reliability management systems 🔹 Experience in a defence environment (valued but not mandatory)
