Reliability Engineer

Location: Smart Parc, Spondon, Derby DE21 7HW

Shift: Rotating Suez shift pattern (0600–1800 & 1800–0600)

About The Team

As a Reliability Engineer, you’ll ensure the maintenance, repairs, and improvements of both automated and non-automated systems on-site.

Key focus areas:

  • Maximising equipment uptime and reliability
  • Supporting preventive & reactive maintenance
  • Troubleshooting automation systems, including conveyance and facilities equipment

What You’ll Be Doing

Core Responsibilities

✅ Hands-on system monitoring & repair – Diagnose and resolve issues to maintain high equipment availability.

✅ Preventive & predictive maintenance – Perform routine checks on automation, robotics, and control systems.

✅ Root Cause Analysis (RCA) – Drive continuous improvement by identifying and addressing issue triggers.

✅ Documentation & systems compliance – Record all work in CMMS and modern checklists while maintaining health & safety standards.

✅ Contractor liaison – Oversee outsourced work to ensure project adherence.

✅ Mentorship & training – Guide junior engineers on best practices.

✅ Cross-functional contributions – Support projects and ad-hoc engineering tasks.


Who You Are

Technical Expertise Required

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (advantageous but not mandatory)
  • Proven material handling, flow, and capacity analysis skills
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • PLC-controlled automation (programming, troubleshooting)
    • HMIs & VFDs (installation, diagnostics, maintenance)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety and cabling principles
