Main Responsibilities
As a Reliability Technician, you will support plant reliability through condition-based monitoring and preventative maintenance activities across the cement manufacturing process. The purpose of the role is to monitor, measure, and trend equipment condition data to predict failures, allowing maintenance teams to plan and schedule effective interventions.
Responsibilities Of The Role Include
- Prioritising health, safety, and environmental standards at all times and working in accordance with site safety procedures and isolation requirements.
- Carrying out vibration analysis on running plant, analysing data, recording findings, and reporting recommendations.
- Undertaking stopped inspections of machinery, taking measurements, and conducting visual inspections to identify developing equipment issues.
- Collecting and managing oil samples from major plant equipment and using analysis data to support maintenance planning and reliability improvements.
- Completing planned plant inspection routes and first and second-level inspections on critical equipment.
- Carrying out lubrication activities on both running and stopped plant equipment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
