Based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Llantrisant, Wales, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician will play a vital role in ensuring plant reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Facility Upkeep: Maintain and oversee the Llantrisant Manufacturing Facility, ensuring all mechanical, rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, agitators), piping systems, and associated machinery meet highest safety and operational standards.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting: Conduct comprehensive root cause analysis (RCA) and repairs to resolve mechanical failures, guaranteeing seamless production and on-target manufacturing outputs.
- Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Execute proactive preventative maintenance, alignments, mechanical inspections, and condition monitoring (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography) to maintain mechanical integrity.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Method Statements (Risk Assessments).
- Contribute to updating Quality, Health & Safety (QHMS), and Environmental documentation while complying with legal requirements like PSSR, PUWER, and LOLER.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Partner with Process Engineers, Plant Engineers, and R&D staff to identify and implement improvements in mechanical systems and troubleshoot failures.
- CMMS & Compliance: Ensure accurate logging of mechanical maintenance work (internal and via contractors) for full transparency and traceability.
- Shift Management: Provide clear, high-quality shift handover reports to facilitate smooth continuity in our 4-on-4-off schedule.
- Emergency Response: Act as a key stakeholder for equipment failures, establishing internal call-out protocols for seamless 24/7 support.
- Flexible Duties: Undertake additional tasks as functionally required by leadership.

Key Requirements
Education & Technical Expertise

Qualification in Mechanical Engineering via HNC/HND or a time-served apprenticeship with extensive experience.

Strong hands-on experience in fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of:
- Pumps (centrifugal & positive displacement)
- Mixers & agitators
- Gearboxes & mechanical seals (single/double)
- Steam systems
- Pipework
Required Knowledge & Skills
- UK Regulations: In-depth understanding of PSSR regulations and general OSHA/PUWER awareness.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Mechanical drawings, P&ID interpretation, and technical manuals.
- Ability to log maintenance data via CMMS systems.
- Safety & Practical Skills:
- Confined space work, working at heights, and safe manual handling of heavy equipment.
- Welding, fabrication, and precision mechanical adjustments.
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to draft technical reports and health & safety procedures.
- Clear, concise communication with oversight teams.
Desirable (Non-Essential) Experience
- Experience within COMAH or high-hazard chemical environments.
- Mechanical maintenance in ATEX/DSEAR registered zones.
- Electrical awareness (e.g., basic 18th Edition compliance or experience with three-phase motors).
- Condition monitoring (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.).
- Certifications in rigging, slinging, or forklift operations.
