Teaching Relief Bank – Shetland Schools Support Role

Applications are invited to join our relief bank to provide teaching support in schools across Shetland. Members will be contacted on an "as and when required" basis to cover absences. Applicants must be resident in Shetland before being added to the supply list, though notifications will be given at short notice when possible.

Key Details

  • Rate of Pay: £23.11 to £33.88 per hour (inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance)
  • Contract Basis: Flexible, on-call support

Requirements & Criteria

All applicants will be assessed against the Person Specification for Teachers (available in the Job Profile and Conditions of Service Summary).

Before being included on the relief bank, candidates will undergo:

  • References check
  • Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership (preferred check or update)
  • General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) registration verification
  • Qualification and eligibility-to-work assessments

Essential Preferences

  • Already participating in the PVG Scheme (or able to complete an update)
  • GTCS registration in place
  • Flexible and experienced probationers on the flexible route are welcome to apply
