About the Role
We are seeking a Relief Chef Manager to join our team. This dynamic role requires flexibility and travel across our sites in Leeds (3 sites) and Gateshead (2 sites). If you enjoy variety and a different challenge every day, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Responsibilities
- Covering annual leave: Step in as a Chef or Chef Manager during leave periods across all locations.
- Menu Planning & Execution:
- Design and plan menus that align with individual site preferences and customer expectations.
- Oversee food preparation to ensure high-quality dishes, maintain wastage control, and ensure portion accuracy.
- Provide fresh, well-presented meals.
- Employee Management:
- Recruit and train chefs, cooks, and front-of-house staff.
- Offer guidance, coaching, and performance feedback for the kitchen team.
- Inventory & Cost Control:
- Monitor stock levels and implement a cost-effective approach to ordering supplies.
- Customer Relations:
- Engage with customers to understand their catering needs and gather feedback.
- Maintain clear communication to address any specific requirements or concerns.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Support the Head Chef/Manager in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food regulations.
- Foster a culture of safety through proactive measures.
- Menu Development & Innovation:
- Stay updated on culinary trends and suggest new ideas for menus.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and food preparation.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Chef Manager
- Ideally recent experience in the contract catering sector
- Must own a vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license
- Excellent creative culinary skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Food cost management proficiency
- Knowledge of food safety and health and safety regulations
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments
