Relief HGV Driver - Class 2 Hiab

Role Overview

We are recruiting a Relief HGV Driver (Class 2 Hiab) to join our New Malden team. This is a customer-facing role responsible for delivering materials to trade and retail customers, operating a Class 2 HIAB-equipped vehicle safely and efficiently, and supporting branch and transport teams during peak periods or cover requirements. The successful candidate will be reliable, safety conscious and adaptable, able to represent the company professionally while maintaining high standards of vehicle care and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class 2 (C) HGV fitted with a HIAB crane to load, transport and unload goods to customers’ sites, following job sheets and instructions from the Transport Supervisor.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and protected for transit; use straps, tarpaulins and other appropriate restraints to prevent damage.
  • Use the onboard HIAB crane safely and efficiently to lift and place materials at customer sites, following safe systems of work and manufacturer guidance.
  • Carry out daily vehicle and HIAB checks, report any defects through the correct channels and ensure vehicle documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Plan routes to meet delivery schedules and customer time windows, communicating with the transport office regarding delays, traffic or site restrictions.
  • Provide excellent customer service on site and at point of delivery; liaise professionally with customers to ensure safe unloading and placement of goods.
  • Assist with loading at branch where required, including manual handling tasks and use of lifting aids, to support efficient turnaround of vehicles.
  • Complete delivery paperwork and electronic proof of delivery accurately and promptly, reporting any shortages, damage or customer queries to the Transport Supervisor.
  • Adhere to company health and safety policies, use appropriate PPE, follow site-specific instructions and report incidents or near misses immediately.
  • Work flexibly to provide cover across the New Malden branch and neighbouring branches as required, supporting peak periods and ad-hoc transport requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
