Relief Concrete Plant Supervisor
Department: Operations and Maintenance Location: Wickwar, Gloucestershire (Ideally based in the Bristol area)
Description
We are seeking a Relief Concrete Plant Supervisor to support Concrete Plants in the South West RMX area.
You will be responsible for:
- Producing ready-mix concrete across multiple sites, operating a computerised batching system.
- Assisting Production Managers and Assistant Production Managers in health, safety, and maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety checks on all critical equipment per company standards.
- Operate loading shovels to restock bins and manage aggregate deliveries.
- Report near-miss incidents/hazards promptly to the Health & Safety Department and line management.
- Ensure concrete production meets customer specifications and technical standards.
- Monitor and reorder constituent material stocks from suppliers.
- Perform and record environmental permit checks daily.
- Manage and oversee truck, mixer, tipper, and cement tanker drivers.
- Supervise external contractors in compliance with company protocols.
- Maintain high site housekeeping standards and carry out preventative maintenance.
- Coach and mentor operational staff while driving operational improvements.
- Support Assistant Production Managers and District Managers as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- A mechanical/electrical understanding of concrete plant machinery to identify and report faults.
- Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach, capable of anticipating issues and collaborating effectively.
- Experience in plant operation is essential.
- Strong negotiation and teamwork skills at both formal and informal levels.
