About the Role
The Children and Families Department operates under "Our Nottinghamshire Approach", a strengths-based framework for working with children, young people, families, and partners.
Join the team at Clayfields House, a secure children’s home for young people aged 10 to 18. As a Relief Receptionist, you will:
- Act as the first professional point of contact for visitors.
- Provide essential administrative and clerical support in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Deliver excellent customer service under the reception and switchboard role.
- Ensure smooth daily operations through organisational skills, word processing experience, and a calm demeanour.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming: Provide a friendly and professional welcome to visitors and clients.
- Phone Handling: Answer and direct calls to relevant staff members efficiently.
- Clerical Work: Manage filing, data entry, and correspondence as needed.
- Administrative Support: Assist the team with office tasks, maintaining order in the reception area.
- Shift Covering: Cover daytime,, evening, weekend, and bank holiday shifts at short notice for team members (annual leave, absences).

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Strong customer service skills for engaging securely with clients and staff.
- Organisational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in word processing (Microsoft Office or similar).
- Ability to work independently and stay composed under pressure.

- Positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
- Clear, effective communication ( face-to-face, telephone).
- Adaptability to suit different situations.
