Relief Receptionist Children and Families Department Hourly Rate: £13.05 per hour

About the Role
The Children and Families Department works using a strengths-based approach called «Our Nottinghamshire Approach» to support children, young people, families, and partner agencies. As a Relief Receptionist at Clayfields House—a secure children’s home for young people aged 10–18—your role involves providing essential reception support, including:
- First point of contact for visitors with customer care excellence
- Maintaining smooth administrative operations, such as phone switchboard, clerical duties, and front desk functions
- Covering daytime, evening, and weekend shifts as needed, including short-notice absences

Key Responsibilities
Your core duties will include:

Customer & Visitor Engagement
- Welcoming visitors and clients with friendliness and professionalism
- Answering phone calls and directing inquiries to the right team

Administrative & Clerical Support
- Handling general clerical tasks: filing, data entry, and correspondence
- Supporting team processes—including word processing—to assist daily operations

Reception Management
- Maintaining an organised, calm, and efficient reception area
- Adapting to unpredictable demands (e.g., managing staff shortages, peak periods)

Shift Flexibility
- Covering role for evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on an ad-hoc basis
Essential Requirements
To successfully fulfil this role, you should have:
- Exceptional customer care skills with the ability to interact courteously and professionally
- Strong organisational abilities to handle multitasking in a high-workload environment
- Proficiency in word processing (Microsoft Office/equivalent) and basic computer systems
- A capacity for independent work with a composed demeanour under pressure
