Rockwood House

Nestled in the vibrant town of Beith, Rockwood House is more than just a place to live. It is a small, nurturing home where young people can grow, make connections, and feel part of something. We encourage involvement in local groups, clubs, and activities, always working alongside each young person to help them settle, build confidence, and take those all-important next steps towards their future.

Role Overview

As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and supportive home for children and young people. Through positive relationships, consistency, and trauma-informed practice, you will support them to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with children and young people
  • Provide emotional support, guidance, and positive role modelling
  • Support education, health, wellbeing, and daily living activities
  • Contribute to care plans, assessments, and reviews
  • Create opportunities for fun, play, and meaningful experiences
  • Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate records and reports

About You

You will be compassionate, patient, and committed to helping children and young people thrive. You will understand the importance of building positive relationships and providing consistent support, particularly for those who have experienced adversity or trauma. You will be able to work effectively as part of a team, communicate confidently, and remain calm during challenging situations. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, an SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People). This role requires SSSC registration and membership of the PVG Scheme.

Why Work With Us?

At CrossReach, we believe every child and young person deserves the opportunity to feel safe, valued, and supported. You'll join a dedicated team where your contribution matters and where you'll have access to training, development, and opportunities to progress your career.

If you're ready to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
