Relief Retail Security Officer – LIDL Bristol Area

Location: Various LIDL stores across the Bristol region

Hours: Flexible relief hours (including weekdays, weekends and bank holidays)

Overtime: Regular opportunities available

About The Role

We are looking for professional, reliable and customer-focused Relief Retail Security Officers to support our LIDL stores across the Bristol area.

As a Relief Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining security cover across multiple stores by providing support during periods of annual leave, sickness, training and other operational requirements. Your flexibility and reliability will help ensure our stores continue to receive the high standard of security service our customers and colleagues expect.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, is adaptable, and wants to become part of a supportive team with opportunities to progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible security presence throughout each shift.
  • Conduct regular internal and external patrols.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers when required.
  • Prevent and deter theft, fraud and anti-social behaviour.
  • Monitor store activity and respond appropriately to incidents.
  • Complete accurate incident reports using company reporting systems.
  • Work closely with store management and colleagues to support daily operations.
  • Promote a safe and secure environment for customers, staff and contractors.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.

About The Relief Role

Relief Officers are an essential part of our operation. You will be deployed across a number of LIDL stores throughout the Bristol area to provide cover where it is needed most.

Because no two weeks are the same, flexibility is essential. You may be asked to work at different locations, sometimes at short notice, to support planned holidays, unexpected sickness or other operational demands.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Although your place of work may change, you will be expected to maintain the same high standards of professionalism, customer service, attendance and performance as every other member of the security team.

What We're Looking For

  • A valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A professional and confident approach to conflict management.
  • A flexible attitude towards working at different store locations.
  • Strong reliability, punctuality and attendance.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must have access to their own vehicle and hold a full UK driving licence. Reliable transport is essential, as public transport may not provide suitable access to every store or shift pattern.

Why Join Us?

  • Variety of work across multiple LIDL stores.
  • Opportunities to develop your experience within a large retail operation.
  • Regular overtime opportunities.
  • Full uniform and ongoing training provided.
  • Be part of a supportive and professional regional team.

For officers who consistently demonstrate excellent attendance, flexibility, professionalism and performance, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent Core Officer position when vacancies become available.

If you're dependable, adaptable and take pride in delivering outstanding security services, we'd love to hear from you.
