We’re Hiring: Relief Security Officer
📍 Location: Newport, UK
💷 Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour
⏰ Hours: 42 per week
Grade: Site Based
We are looking for a fully flexible Branch Relief Security Officer to support a variety of sites across South Wales. This role requires flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends, covering a range of assignments and locations as required.

To deliver professional security services across multiple sites within a defined geographical area as required. The Relief Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the customer’s employees, property, and assets in accordance with relevant Assignment Instructions and site-specific client requirements. The Relief Security Officer will ensure services are delivered to the highest standards of customer care, consistently reflecting Securitas’ core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness, with the Relief Security Officer acting as a professional ambassador for the organisation at all times.
Responsibilities
Job Description
You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:
- Protection of Property and Premises: Prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site, monitoring fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV systems as required.
- Carry out internal and external security patrols in line with the Assignment Instructions.
- Control traffic flow and enforce parking restrictions where necessary.
- Perform routine checks and testing of security equipment as appropriate.
- Manage keys and undertake locking and unlocking duties in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
- Ensure all equipment provided by the customer and Securitas is used, stored, and maintained in line with established procedures.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and records as required by the Assignment Instructions.
- Issue visitor and contractor passes in line with site procedures.
- Handle lost property in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
- Health and Safety: Provide support, guidance, and information to staff, visitors, and contractors while ensuring the continued safeguarding of the premises. Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times, and promptly record and report faults, hazards, and unsafe working practices.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:
- Hold a valid DS SIA Licence.
- Possess a full UK driving licence with access to own transport
- Be fully flexible to work days, nights, and weekends, including short-notice cover when required.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK, supported by a minimum of five years’ checkable employment history, or appropriate documentary evidence covering any periods of unemployment, self-employment, or full-time/part-time education.
- Be aged 18 or over.
- Have no current criminal convictions.
- Demonstrate excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Show a strong customer-focused approach with high attention to detail.
- Be punctual, reliable, and dependable.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria: Previous experience working as a Security Officer within the security industry. A recognised First Aid qualification.
