Job Description
Job Role: Relief Security Officer
Working Hours: Zero hours
Pay: £14.31 per hour
Location: Port Solent, The Boardwalk, Portsmouth, PO6 4TP
Reporting to: Contracts Manager
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services, for an experienced and customer-focused Security Officer to join our established security team as a Relief Security Officer based at Port Solent.
This is a varied and people-focused role in a vibrant outdoor shopping and leisure destination, where delivering a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for visitors is top priority.
As a Relief Security Officer, you will be expected to provide cover as required, with flexibility being essential. In the short term, there is a requirement for the successful candidate to be available to work up to 42 hours per week to provide consistent cover for long-term sickness absence.
In this role, you will act as a visible and approachable presence on site by assisting visitors, offering guidance, and helping create a welcoming environment. You will also be responsible for conducting regular patrols, monitoring activity to ensure a safe and secure environment for all visitors and staff. You will respond promptly to incidents, liaise professionally with members of the public and site management, and maintain accurate records in line with operational procedures. A strong presence, attention to detail, and commitment to upholding site security standards are essential.

The successful candidate must hold both valid SIA and CCTV licences, as the role includes operating on-site CCTV systems.
Duties Include
- Protecting the client’s property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and site-specific procedures
- Providing a warm, welcoming, and professional presence for all visitors, tenants, and staff
- Acting as the first point of contact for customers and visitors, offering guidance, information, and assistance
- Supporting a safe and welcoming environment through high-visibility patrols and proactive engagement
- Responding to incidents promptly and escalating appropriately to the Control Room, management, or emergency services where required
- Reporting irregularities and addressing issues in line with site policies and procedures
- Completing accurate reports, including observations, incidents, and daily activities
- Understanding customer needs and responding appropriately to queries and requests
- Maintaining compliance with legal requirements and company standards
- Contributing positively to the team and maintaining professional conduct at all times
Requirements
- Full 5-year employment checkable history - ESSENTIAL
- Valid frontline SIA licence DS or SG – ESSENTIAL
- Valid CCTV licence - ESSENTIAL
- Ability to reliably commute to Port Solent, PO6 4TP
- Customer Service experience and confidence to handle conflict in a correct manner
- Flexible to meet the job requirements
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Smart appearance and be well-groomed
- Reliable and punctual
- High level of enthusiasm and passion
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment
