Relief Security Officer
Security Guard Duty – Mitie
Job Overview
To protect customers' property, people, and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the site’s published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and any subsequent changes.
Delivering results that meet—or exceed—Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) / Service Level Agreements for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, ensuring quality service retention and contract success.
To undertake required training to ensure continuous self-development.
Main Duties
Operations

Ensure compliance with company policies, all legal requirements, and regulatory guidance under UK law.

Fully complete all tasks outlined in published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) while maintaining professional standards.

Proactively review and report on AI changes, recommending enhancements to improve service.

Must hold and wear requisite licences at all times, including:
- SIA (Security Industry Authority):
- Front-line licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) – non-negotiable.
- CCTV PSS Licence – mandatory for this role.
- Must obtain any contractually required additional training/certifications.

Complete all required competency training to maintain licencing standards.

Continuously upskill in directed courses to ensure ongoing professional development.

Ensure SIA licence renewal 16 weeks prior to expiry.
Security & Health & Safety

Monitor and report any Health & Safety hazards promptly.

Stay vigilant for threats, environmental changes, or potential disruptions that may affect operations.

Act decisively in emergencies, using common sense and seeking support when necessary.

Maintain professional conduct, even under pressure, if dealing with difficult scenarios.

Document clear, detailed notebook entries for all incidents to support incident reporting processes.

Strict adherence to check-call schedules as outlined in AI’s.

Contact emergency services and Communication Centre immediately when reporting incidents.
Requirements
- Previous security experience preferred.
- Mandatory SIA Licence in Security Guarding (or Door Supervision) – not yet revoked.
- Square Mile Certificate of Attendance or local equivalent preferred.
- DBS Check and SC clearance desirable.
