We’re Hiring: Relief Security Officer

📍 Location: Bridgend

💰 Pay: £14.50

📅 Hours: 42 hours 4 on 4 off

To provide security services at various sites across a defined geographical area as required. As a Relief Security Officer, you will be responsible for protecting the customer’s employees, property, and other assets in line with relevant Assignment Instructions and site-specific customer requirements. The Relief Security Officer will deliver the highest levels of customer service, consistently demonstrating Securitas’ core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness while adapting to different sites and operational environments. In addition, the Relief Security Officer will support operational requirements across multiple locations and shifts as needed. NB: The prospective Security Officer must have acquired a full SIA licence before being able to start work on operational shifts.

Responsibilities

Job Description

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

  • The Relief Security Officer will:
    • Prevent unauthorised access and monitor CCTV, fire alarms, and intruder alarms.
    • Conduct internal and external security patrols.
    • Manage traffic control, parking restrictions, and site access.
    • Carry out routine security equipment checks.
    • Manage keys, locking and unlocking duties, and site equipment.
    • Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and incident reports.
    • Issue visitor and contractor passes and handle lost property.
    • Provide security cover across static sites and retail park locations.

Health and Safety

The Relief Security Officer will:

  • Support staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining site safety.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and report hazards, faults, and security concerns.
  • Record and report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Keep walkways and emergency escape routes clear.
  • Monitor First Aid supplies and report any shortages.
  • Promote a safe and secure environment through vigilance and professionalism.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A valid SIA Licence.
  • Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable employment history (enhanced screening required).
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of access control systems.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle due to multiple site locations.
  • Ability to travel to site within 45 minutes.
  • A customer-focused approach with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to cover both static sites and retail park locations.
  • Computer literate and able to use basic IT systems.
