Relief Senior Support Worker – Mental Health Care Home (68 Ard Na Va Road)

About The Role: Relief Senior Support Worker (Mental Health Care)
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting residents with daily living activities, including dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
- Collaborating positively with residents who may present challenges.
- Developing and maintaining clear, comprehensive, and resident-accessible care plans.
- Encouraging and supporting residents in managing their medication effectively.
- Assisting residents in building skills and fostering independence.
- Helping with daily living tasks such as personal care, shopping, and household responsibilities.
- Supporting residents in scheduling and accompanying them to medical and personal appointments.
- Maintaining accurate manual and electronic documentation.
- Ensuring adherence to house rules to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Working effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Maintaining open and positive communication with colleagues, residents, and visitors.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in a mental health environment with the necessary level of care.
- Familiarity with The Mental Health Order (1986) and its practical application.
- Understanding of current approaches to mental health care and treatment.

Required Criteria
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a Mental Health Unit/Facility.
- Must be empathetic, patient, and compassionate.
- Exposure to types of mental health illnesses and the care needs of residents.
- Must be in good general medical health.
Desired Criteria

Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent preferred).

Current or past experience in a Mental Health support role within a care home.

Due to posting requirements, sponsorship cannot be offered.

Required Compliance for the Position
- Will be required to register with NISCC (Northern Ireland Social Care Council).
- Enhanced Access NI Check will be a mandatory part of the selection process.
- Must adhere to Macklin Care Homes’ ex-offender policy (aligned with Access NI’s Code of Practice).
