Relief Support Worker

Relief/Bank Support Worker

Location: Wakefield, Yorkshire Pay: £12.85 per hour + rolled-up holiday pay, paid weekly or monthly


About the Role

We are seeking warm, motivated, person-centred Relief Support Workers to join our team in Wakefield. You will provide personalised care and support to adults with learning disabilities, tailored to each individual’s unique needs. This vacancy is aligned with the principles of Creative Support, focusing on active and independent lifestyles.

In this key role, you will deliver respectful personal care, practical support, and emotional assistance to service users in our Wakefield services. Your contributions will help:

  • Maximise social opportunities and community engagement.
  • Strengthen warm and trusting relationships with service users.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and professionals to ensure a coordinated and high-standard service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer person-centred support, recognising each individual’s strengths and preferences.
  • Provide respectful personal care, medication assistance, and health-related support as needed.
  • Encourage independent living skills while offering practical guidance.
  • Foster meaningful connections through inclusive activities, social outings, and community involvement.
  • Work flexibly to cover shifts as required (relief/bank basis).
  • Maintain accurate records of service provisions as directed.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies.

Requirements

  • Essential:
    • Minimum of 12 months’ experience in a care role, preferably with adults with learning disabilities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with diverse individuals.
    • Ability to deliver respectful personal care with empathy and discretion.
  • Desired:
    • Experience with learning disabilities, mental health awareness, or prevalence skills.
    • Commitment to person-centred care and Creative Support values.
