Relief Support Worker – Durham Region
Salary: £12.85 per hour, plus rolled-up holiday pay Location: Tudhoe, County Durham ContractType: Relief/Bank
About the Role
We are seeking confident and composed Relief Support Workers in the Durham region to deliver person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, complex needs, and challenging behaviours.
This role provides the opportunity to help service users access a wide range of personal development opportunities. Each service user has unique communication styles and ways of expressing their needs, requiring patience, adaptability, and strong engagement skills.
As our Durham services operate 24/7, support workers must be available for a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays. You will be expected to provide consistent, empathetic support within a positive behaviour support framework, demonstrating maturity, professionalism, and teamwork.
12 months’ UK care experience is essential for Relief roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with service users, recognising their individual needs and preferences
- Support service users in accessing enriching opportunities for personal growth and development
- Work flexibly within a positive behaviour support framework, adhering to safety guidelines
- Communicate effectively and consistently demonstrate unconditional positive regard
- Engage proactively in a collaborative team environment, adhering to department policies and procedures

Requirements
- 12 months’ UK care experience (essential)
- Resilience, patience, and adaptability to meet diverse individual needs
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based setting
- Strong communication skills, with a commitment to promoting dignity and respect
- Capability to work across a variety of shifts, including out-of-hours and weekends
- Fully functional within the UK visa and work eligibility requirements
