About the Role
As an Associate Director – Structural Engineer (NSQEP), you will:
- Provide technical leadership on complex structural engineering projects within defence, research, and nuclear sectors.
- Lead design, analysis, and delivery of safety-critical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and seismic engineering excellence.
- Work in multidisciplinary teams, mentoring engineers and shaping practical, resilient engineering solutions. -admin in Adelaide. Candidates for relocation will be considered.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading structural and seismic design for high-complexity defence and nuclear projects.
- Ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and safety regulations (acting as Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (NSQEP)).
- Delivering dynamic structural assessments, seismic qualification, and resilience studies.
- Managing multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating across stakeholders and technical specialists.
- Assuring quality control of engineering deliverables throughout full project phases.
- Supporting nuclear safety cases and regulatory submissions.
- Mentoring and developing engineers to advance AECOM’s technical capabilities.

Required Skills & Experience
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Civil/Structural Engineering preferred; advanced qualifications in seismic or nuclear engineering advantageous). ● +15 years’ structural engineering expertise, with a focus on comprehensive seismic and safety-critical projects. ● Certified Nuclear Suitably Qualified & Experienced Person (NSQEP) or experience in highly regulated nuclear environments. ● Professional standing as a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent accreditation). ● Profound knowledge of Australian/international seismic, structural, and nuclear safety standards. ● Proficient in FEA software (including ETABS, SpaceGass, and RAPT) and analysis tools. ● Proven track record in engineering leadership, communication, and project delivery in complex, multidisciplinary environments. ● Ability to obtain defence clearance (AUKUS).
