Remote BMS Engineer – Digital Operations Centre, Bellshill (Remote Work Based)
Equans is seeking a Remote BMS Engineer to join our Digital business, supported from our Digital Operations Centre (DOC) in Bellshill, Glasgow, working full-time with the objective to support sites across the country.
As part of Equans Digital, we go beyond just upgrading Building Management Systems (BMS)—we work closely with the UK’s commercial and public sectors to enable a "Smart Enabled" future. Supported by an ambitious 5-year growth strategy, we deliver projects up to £1.5m, seeking a team to drive sustainable growth.
Role Overview
This Remote BMS Engineer position operates within Digital Services (Digital & Energy). The role involves collaboration with Managers, Project Teams, and Mobile BMS Service Engineers, requiring a strong understanding of various controls systems used on customer sites. The team provides first-line remote support for BMS-related issues, playing a pivotal role in preventing building closures or service downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Remote BMS Management: Oversee, monitor, and maintain BMS components, including sensors, controllers, actuators, and software systems
- Site Maintenance: Conduct routine checks on diverse sites across the portfolio
- Client & Team Support: Deliver technical assistance to colleagues and clients regarding BMS systems and energy management services
- Optimisation & Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve energy use and BMS functionality
- Strategy & Reporting:
- Review and update BMS strategy, alarms, and visualisations
- Prepare proposals, quotes, and reports based on customer requirements
- Knowledge Development:
- Build specialist knowledge of BMS systems supported by Equans to aid colleagues, clients, and third parties
- Undertake training in IoT, Smart Solutions, BMS Services, Utilities, and Energy Management
- Technical Competence: Must understand IT systems and enterprise networking

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Qualification: A City & Guilds 2391, BTEC, or NVQ in Electrical Engineering or Building/Environmental Management Systems (BEMS)
- Controls Systems Expertise: Hands-on knowledge and experience with at least one of the following (additional training available as required):
- Trend
- Tridium
- Distech
- Siemens Building Technologies
- Niagara AX (Johnson Controls)
- HVAC & Mechanical Systems: Experience working with commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
- Security Clearance: Successful BPSS security vetting
Desirable
- Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) or remote monitoring tools
- Industry-specific certifications, such as BMS install/maintain courses
