Remote Chemistry Expert (PhD)

Role Overview:

In this contractor-freelancer role, you’ll work on projects fine-tuning large language models (e.g., ChatGPT) using strong analytical skills and English comprehension.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A candidate with strong Chemistry foundations (equivalent to PhD-level program standard)
  • Ability to break down complex chemistry problems into clear, accessible explanations
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Willingness to future-proof your career in an AI-first world

Daily Responsibilities:

You’ll contribute to projects that require creating and solving advanced chemistry problems (postgraduate-level). Key tasks include:

  • Analytical Problem-Solving:
    • Examine and explain complex organic reaction mechanisms
    • Provide textual explanations alongside annotated chemical structures
  • Equilibrium & Practical Applications:
    • Solve challenges involving chemical equilibrium, reaction progress, and energy diagrams
    • Combine visual representations, text, and diagrams for clarity
  • Diverse Chemical Challenges:
    • Address problems in:
      • Stoichiometry & thermodynamics
      • Organic chemistry & electrochemistry
      • Typical of Engineering Entrance Exams or Engineering College curricula
    • Use clearly structured explanations across text, visuals, and diagrams

Requirements:

  • Analytical Skills: Strong research and problem-solving abilities
  • Feedback Skills: Crafting constructive feedback and detailed annotations
  • Creativity: Open, lateral thinking to break down complex ideas
  • Communication: Excellent ability to collaborate remotely, structuring thoughts clearly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or holding a PhD/Postdoc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Structured approach to analysing and solving chemistry challenges
  • Proficiency in simplifying concepts for clear communication, with flexibility to use visuals, simulations, or diagrams
