Remote Contract Roles for PhDs in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Chemical Subfields
Collaboration with Top AI Labs • $100+/hour • Fully Remote • Flexible Hours
About the Role
Join a cutting-edge AI research initiative where your STEM expertise in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields will help refine and benchmark large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT. This opportunity is ideal for PhDs seeking impactful, collaborative work while leveraging their technical knowledge for AI alignment.
Key Tasks:
- Design advanced chemistry/chemical engineering problems (e.g., reaction mechanisms, material science, computational modeling).
- Generate strategic benchmarks for evaluating AI reasoning across undergraduate to PhD-level topics.
- Review AI-generated solutions, rating logic rigor, factual accuracy, and problem-solving approach.
- Collaborate with AI researchers to improve model evaluation frameworks and real-world application.
No prior AI experience required—just deep domain expertise and a passion for shaping innovative benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Curate dozens of problems spanning biochemical pathways, engineering workflows, and synthesized compounds.
- Develop detailed, solvable chemistry prompts alongside "gold standard" solutions.
- Critique AI responses and accelerating feedback cycles for benchmark robustness.
- Work with cross-functional teams (AI scientists, ML engineers, industry experts) to refine chemical domain LLM capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Requirements
✅ PhD (or equivalent)—either in progress or completed—in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related subfield. ✅ Strong grasp of advanced theories, experiments, or simulations (e.g., thermodynamics, spectra analysis, reaction kinetics). ✅ Ability to break down complex chemical concepts into clear, structured logical steps for human and AI learners. ✅ Enjoy collaborative debugging of AI outputs—identifying logical gaps and suggesting improvements. ✅ English fluency (technical writing and precise feedback) essential.
No AI coding knowledge required—but adaptability and creative problem-solving Hint optional.
Eliminated Flexible
- Remote-first: Work from anywhere (no office requirements).
- Hourly pay: $100+ (budget varies by project, confirmed upfront).
- Project-based: Describe roles mapped against fixed start/end dates (max 40 hrs/week).
- Reentry assessment: Hypothetical evaluation prompts for a screening round.
